A Reverie, Darkly

Today I call the dawn to rise
It merely bats an eye
It rises sluggishly from bed
With a whiney moan and sigh

Slanting downward golden fields
Stagnant towards the east
The brightest light is in my eyes
I cannot see the beast

Water that's omnipotent
Chills me to the bone
An odd wave rises deep within—
And now a change of tone

In silver arcs of waving weeds
Dynamic in the west
Darkness spreads just like a cloak
At waves of blackest crest

The stars will always spread the sound
Through silence spelling doom
Craters lead straight on to Hell
Tonight I woke the moon

Darkly, A Reverie
